Day cares and schools near natural gas wells in Arlington, Texas

More than half of all public schools and licensed day cares in Arlington, Pantego and Dalworthington Gardens are within a half-mile of a natural gas well. (The latter municipalities are completely contained within the city of Arlington and are served by the same school district.) Eight day cares are within 600 feet, the standard setback requirement. Gas companies can seek exemptions to drill as close as 300 feet.
